- SEPTA announced a temporary shortage of rail cars during peak travel times after the discovery of support-beam cracks on two SEPTA Market-Frankford Line rail cars. SEPTA urges customers to check for further details about the supplemental bus service on our website atwww.septa.org/mfl/supplemental-service.html. Beginning with the morning rush on Monday, Feb. 6, trains will operate with longer headways, and supplemental bus service will be provided, according to SEPTA. SEPTA says the cracks were discovered during an inspection over the weekend. Customers should allow for extra time for their commutes, during which they may encounter delays and crowded conditions.

SEPTA pulls Market-Frankford Line trains after cracks found; delays expected
SEPTA found cracks on two trains on its Market-Frankford Line after cracks in the structural support were spotted during routine maintenance this weekend, the transit authority said Sunday — so they're pulling a third of their cars as a precaution. The morning trains will be supplemented with shuttle buses– for those traveling from 69th Street, these will start at the 52nd Street Station and continue through 15th Street. This means the Monday morning commute will be rough, with SEPTA already warning commuters of packed platforms. For those heading in from Frankford in the morning, the shuttle buses will begin at Girard Station and stop at 15th Street. The problem follows a rough summer for SEPTA, as cracks were found during routine maintenance of the Regional Rail service, a different type of train — and those cracks pulled about a third of that fleet, as well.PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Riders will have their commute affected Monday after cracks were found in SEPTA's Market-Frankford Line cars.
